Inola Gurgulia
We are incredibly honored to have an opportunity to release a record of the legendary Georgian singer-songwriter Inola Gurgulia as the very first project of MoonLab Sounds.
By marrying Tbilisi's urban folk music with her melancholic lyrics, Inola (1929 - 1977) wrote some of the most iconic Georgian songs of the 20th century. Her music is catchy, melodic, and raw. These often heartfelt and melancholic songs have been passed down through generations throughout Tbilisi.
Inola never tried to become famous but wanted her music to be heard and enjoyed. Although her songs were not released during her life, her songs were recorded with the guitar shortly before her passing.
This very limited run of 7” records was released on July 25, 2021, what would’ve been Inola’s 92nd birthday (and our wedding anniversary 🤫).
